Tara Rasmussen, owner and lead designer of Burlwood Studio, brings a lifelong passion for creativity, craftsmanship, and thoughtful design to every project. Growing up in the serene Santa Cruz Mountains, Tara was surrounded by nature and inspired by her parents’ hands-on approach to building and creating their home. Whether helping remodel the kitchen or designing a new playhouse, these early experiences sparked Tara’s love for design and construction, setting the foundation for her career.
With over 15 years of experience in architectural interiors, Tara has honed her ability to blend beauty with function, crafting spaces that reflect the unique personality and lifestyle of each client. Her design philosophy is rooted in collaboration, precision, and a deep appreciation for storytelling—believing that every home should feel personal, timeless, and inspiring.
Outside of Burlwood Studio, Tara is a devoted mother of three, a loving wife, and a proud pet parent. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring new places, practicing yoga, and reconnecting with the ocean—elements that often influence her approach to design.
